Madara’s organic makeup – natural beauty products you need to try!

I have found the best organic natural foundation. And a whole lot of other awesome natural products.

I shouldn’t be surprised it’s from one of my favorite organic brands. Madara recently came out with a makeup line that I just had to try out. These products perform just as well as some synthetic ones. They have lots of pigment, they are effortless and easy to use and the packaging is done right.

Madara’s makeup products don’t scream organic, but they still have the best benefits of natural products. They hydrate and treat your skin, while making you look fabulous.

Madara organic makeup review

The makeup line currently consists of foundations, concealers, highlighters, brow pomades, eye & cheek multishadows and lip glosses. I have everything except the highlighter, so I will give you my honest thoughts on almost all the products.

I also filmed a video, where I do my makeup using the products and review them. I ended up repeating myself quite a bit (It turns out I love everything), but I’m sure once I make more of these videos I will grow my vocabulary and also be less nervous in front of the camera.

I really loved all the products and will keep using all of them. Still my favorite products must be the brow pomade, because it’s the perfect blonde shade for me and the lip gloss, which smells heavenly.

The best natural foundation – Madara Skin Egual Soft Glow foundation

Madara’s Skin Equal Soft Glow foundation is the best liquid natural foundation I’ve tried. And I mean it. I have tried some pretty horrible organic foundations and it’s remarkable how much this one differs from them. It just feels like a regular foundation. The consistency is great, it blends easily to the skin, gives an amazing glow and stays well on my skin.

I’d say the coverage is medium. It evens out the skin tone, covers redness and small spots. In my case, I need a concealer for my acne scars and some inflamed spots. But that is good, because I don’t like a full-coverage foundation anymore. I like a natural finish and I use more coverage only on the problem areas.

Since it’s Soft Glow foundation and my skin is combination, it is pretty glowy at the end of the day. If I powder it well though, it lasts nicely and is less glowy. I’m pretty confident this foundation can work for different skin types. If you’ve been looking for an organic option, you might want to check this out!

I use the shade 50 Golden Beige, which is a medium light color with a yellow undertone. It’s actually my summer shade, but I prefer a slightly darker foundation anyway. If you want to see before and after, check out the video where I apply the product.

The foundation also has SPFT 15, which is great. Contains Aloe Vera, natural oils, hyaluronic acid, vitamins C and E and antioxidants.

Cruelty-free & vegan dupe for NARS RCC – Madara The Concealer

Madara’s concealer has a creamy yet thin consistency and it blends very easily to the skin. It’s great for bringing light back to the skin. I like to use a light shade under my eyes after first neutralizing my dark circles with something more peachy and yellow.

The shade Vanilla reminds me of NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Vanilla. I think this could be a great cruelty free, vegan and organic dupe for that. It’s not as thick and as pigmented as the NARS one is, but for dry-skinned beauties it’s a good thing. Madara’s concealer doesn’t get into the fine lines under the eyes and it feels hydrating.

Contains Aloe Vera juice, shea butter and hyaluronic acid.

Madara Guilty Shades Eye & Cheek Multishadow

I love that this product is multi-use. You can use it on your lids, cheeks and lips. I love to use it on my cheeks as a blush.

It’s very pigmented and a little goes a long way. It’s also one of the most long-lasting cream blushes I’ve tried. The shade 64 Heat is beautiful with a peachy glow and sheen to it. It actually also acts as a bronzer, when I blend it all out. I’m slightly obsessed with this shade. It makes it look like my skin is on a summer holiday.

The only downside to this product is that it doesn’t last on my lids, unless I set it with a powder or eyeshadow. That’s the thing with all cream eyeshadows though, so it’s not just this.

Contains Aloe Vera juice, natural oils, vitamins C and E as well as antioxidants.

Madara’s Brow Pomade in Smoky Blonde is the perfect color for light brows

It’s pretty rare to find brow products light enough for blonde eyebrows. Not all of us want to make our brows very dark. The shade 10 Smoky Blonde is the perfect shade for light eyebrows. I can make my brows defined and nice with this, yet the color is light enough so it blends perfectly to my brow hairs. My brows look natural, but done, if that makes sense.

The brow pomade also has good pigment and it lasts nicely on the brows. I use Zoeva’s winged liner brush with it, which is the perfect brush for brows. It’s super thin so I can draw on brow hairs.

Contains oils from argan, rice bran and cumin.

Madara Hydrating Lip Gloss

I love lip glosses and especially natural ones. After all, some of the makeup is gonna end up in my mouth.

Madara’s lip gloss was a winner for me since the first try. It has a delicious vanilla scent to it and the consistency is great. It’s in-between a sticky and a watery gloss. It’s quite lightweight and watery, but it has some stickiness to it so it lasts better on the lips.

I have the shade 74 Nude Coral, which is a peachy color. There’s not much pigment though, so keep in mind these lip glosses are more for a gloss and a tiny amount of color. (Though I have only tried this shade, so I don’t know if the other colors are more pigmented.)

Contains blueberry seed and rice bran oils,  vegan plant waxes and vitamin E.

Overall I’m very pleased with the products. I love Madara’s sunscreens and the City CC Cream is my go-to “foundation”. It’s very light-coverage though, so it’s nice to now have the foundation to use for when I want more coverage.

Have you tried Madara’s makeup or would you like to?

Simple organic luxury makeup [Step by step photos]

Who knew luxury makeup could be organic and sustainable?

I mean, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but I’m still very excited about the Kjaer Weis products I received. And here’s the most important thing: the packaging is refillable! That’s also why it’s extra beautiful. It’s something you are keeping, not tossing away, like you usually do with used makeup products. You just simply buy a refill and keep using that beautiful packaging.

Genius. And quite simple, really. That is why I wanted to create this simple makeup look with the products. Besides the Kjaer Weis products, I also used a mineral makeup base and a black pencil (that’s been my favorite for years!) from Alima Pure.

I wrote a bit more about the product at the end of this post, but for now, let’s get to the step by step photos of this simple makeup.

Products are pr-samples. Links are adlinks.

Some beautiful Alima Pure products. Garnet blush, mineral foundation and the best black pencil I know.

How to apply mineral makeup?

I love mineral makeup for a couple of reasons. It looks natural and beautiful, because it reflects light. It also kind of blends on the skin making it look even more perfect after an hour or two of application. And – it’s naturally antibacterial! As someone who has battled acne and bad skin, a makeup product that is acne-safe is always a plus.

Mineral makeup is also very quick and easy to apply.

  1. Take some mineral powder on the cap and swirl your brush in it. Don’t try and take a huge amount of product. (The amount shown on the photo is actually quite maximum.) The key is working in light layers.
  2. Once you have some product on the brush, tap the brush against the table to get the minerals to ‘sink’ in the brush. That way the brush releases the powder evenly while you apply it on your skin.

A kabuki brush is best for applying mineral makeup. I used a kabuki from Jane Iredale, but Ecotools also has some great options.

Can’t go wrong with a natural-looking glowy base and a red lip.

Alima Pure mineral foundation & Kjaer Weis cream blush – Step by step

  1. I applied the mineral makeup all over my face in light layers with my big kabuki brush. After that I took a smaller Ecotools brush and concealed some areas that needed more coverage, like the sides of my nose, a few acne scars and any pimples.
  2. I applied the cream blush on my cheeks and on my lids. Thanks to the cream consistency, no highlight is needed – the cream also brings a natural glow to the skin.  Blush colors work beautifully as eyeshadows and a coral shade like this really brightens up the eyes.

Black liner & a coat of mascara

What I love to do, is tightline my eyes. It’s a great trick for eyes, that have only a little visible lid space. This way the liner doesn’t take up that lid space, but it still enhances the lashes and makes them look more voluminous.

My favorite black pencil is Alima Pure’s Ink Pencil, because the color is really black, it stays well on my eyes and it doesn’t irritate them. The Kjaer Weis Mascara is from Kjaer Weis. Natural mascaras are tricky, but this one is one of the best I’ve tried!

How to apply red lipstick

Or any lipstick, really. I always apply my lipsticks like this – it saves time.

  1. Apply your lipstick on the bottom lip. At this point you don’t have to be too concerned about the edges.
  2. Press your lips together, so that the color sticks to the upper lip as well.
  3. Now you have the lipstick somewhat in place. Then you can go over the edges and perfect the red lip. If the lipstick feels too clumsy, you can take a lip brush and use that to clean the edges. I just used the pointy side of the lipstick, since it was still new and quite handy to use.

And that’s it for the simple makeup. What do you think? I love a look like this.

Kjaer Weis review – Refillable luxury organic makeup

I’ts been a while since I’ve found a new interesting makeup line, so I’m pretty happy about the Kjaer Weis products I’ve used lately. Here are quick reviews on the products.

Kjaer Weis Mascara
As I already mentioned, natural mascaras are a tricky product to produce. But this mascara is one of the best I’ve tried. I think a lot of it has to do with the mascara wand. The consistency is quite thin, but thick at the same time. What I mean is that you don’t get clumpy lashes in one layer. I usually apply two layers – like in these photos – but it still looks natural. I also like the packaging – it’s petite and pretty.
The mascara costs around 34€ and refill 25€.

Kjaer Weis Above and Beyond Blush
The packaging in this is really interesting, because it has this rotating cap and a mirror on the other side of it. It’s very handy to travel with, since you have a mirror and your makeup with you. Besides using this as a blush and an eyeshadow, I’ve also used it on my lips, especially on the go. The formula is very creamy and nourishing, but it doesn’t feel sticky on the skin. It’s quite pigmented, but still easy to blend. I love this coral shade that is very trendy for this spring.
The blush costs 49€ and refill 29€.

Kjaer Weis Amour Rouge Lipstick

The lipstick is beautiful. It’s said to have a velvet finish, which describes it well. It’s definitely more on the matte-side, which makes it very pigmented and long lasting. I don’t usually go for matte lipsticks, but this shade was so unique I had to have it. I also don’t mind the matte consistency, probably because of the moisturizing ingredients like shea butter, almond oil and jojoba oil.
The lipstick costs 52€ and refill 34€.

Alima Pure mineral makeup

Quick reviews on the Alima Pure products I used.

Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation Beige 2
Compared to some other mineral makeup foundations I’ve tried, I would say this is quite glowy. It’s said to have a smooth matte finish with subtle glow, but on my skin it’s not matte (and the glow is real). The consistency is great and the foundation blends easily on my complexion. I think I need to let my sister try this, because she has dry skin and I have a feeling this would work amazingly for drier skintypes.
Alima Pure Foundation costs 34,90€.

Alima Pure Natural Definition Eye Pencil Ink
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like talking about a black pencil is somewhat boring. Then again it’s one of the makeup staples and we all appreciate a good black pencil. Right? Well, I’ve used this black pencil for years now and I think it’s the best. It’s black, it lasts well, it suits my sensitive eyes and it can be blended to get a soft line. It’s not too soft and it’s not too hard either. It’s the perfect black pencil, really.
The pencil costs 22,50€.
