My favorite natural sunscreens – and why they’re the best

The best natural sunscreens

Last year my mind was blown by Madara’s launch of the new sunscreen products. As we all know, natural sunscreens are a bit tricky. It’s hard not to compare them to chemical sunscreens, which can feel so light on the skin. But the lightweight feeling is not necessarily the best choice here.

I have found that natural physical sunscreens give me the best protection. And these products also give me the prettiest glow! I personally don’t have to reapply these products and not once have I burned wearing them. So if you really think about it – physical sunscreens are quite practical.

And have you noticed that sunscreens meant for children usually contain a physical sunscreen? Why is that, I wonder. Why not protect yourself as well as you do your children?

MADARA Sunscreens for face

The best thing about Madara’s face sunscreen products is that they also function as makeup. The SPF 30 face cream has a bit of tint in it and it gives a beautiful natural glow to the skin. The City CC SPF 15 is a great choice when you want a bit more coverage to the skin (and glow, obviously).

These are my go-to products for spring and summer. I feel like they even out my skin tone nicely and they are the perfect summer “foundation”. I just apply concealer where I need it and my skin looks beautiful. I wrote full reviews on these products here, so make sure to read that!

MADARA CITY-CC Light Beige & Medium Beige

This year I got the darker color option for the City CC cream and I have to say that it works better for me. The Light Beige color is more red-toned and light whereas the Medium Beige is more yellow and slightly darker. They are still both quite sheer, so you don’t need an exact match to your skin. As you can see in the photos, I can get away with wearing both.

MADARA SUN15 Beach BB Shimmering Sunscreen SPF 15 – Body & Hands

This year Madara also came out with BB-cream for the body, which has some light shimmer and tint to it. Since I love the Face SPF 30 so much, I’m so excited for this tinted body version. It’s a clever way to hide the white color, which all the physical sunscreens have.  And who doesn’t like to glow while being protected of the sun?

The consistency in the body BB is creamy, but not too thick. It’s easy to blend to the skin and it doesn’t feel sticky. The shimmer in it is quite fine and doesn’t look too glittery. In warm indoor lighting I could see some glitters, but that just made me happy. (And in direct sun, when you look closer. It’s like gorgeous little glitters on your skin.)

This product has a sweet foresty scent to it, which I actually love.

I have a strong feeling I will be wearing this most of the days. And for any parties! It doubles as body makeup and I’m all for that.

Madara sun 20 weightless sun milk swatch review

MADARA  SUN20 Weightless Sun Milk SPF 20 – Body, hands & face

Madara’s SUN 20 Weightless Sun Mik is a hassle free easy option for those, who don’t want any tint to their sunscreens or who feel like even the face SPF 30 is too dark. It’s colorless, it feels comfortable on the skin and you can use it all over your body, face and hands.

Well, obviously the cream is first white, but once you blend it to your skin it looks invisible. Besides, this way it’s easy to see where you’ve applied it (though the tinted versions work for that as well).

The body milk is Aloe Vera based and it contains natural oils and waxes. The sun can dry out the skin and I feel like that’s the case in my skin, so I like to wear sunscreens that are also moisturizing. That way my tan looks better as well.

This product has a foresty scent to it, but I don’t find it too strong.

I don’t have kids, but if I did, I would choose this one for my little ones.

Madara natural sunscreens review

So, these products get A+ from me and I warmly recommend them to anyone who wants to switch to natural sunscreens, who wants a long-lasting sun protection or for those wanting a nice glow to their skin. If you do end up ordering and trying them, I would also recommend checking out Madara’s masks (here’s my post of them) and their hydrating SOS-serum.

I also recently tried out a BB-cream that acts both as a full-coverage foundation and a sunscreen. I know some like to wear makeup and foundation throughout the summer, so that would be a nice option for those, who still want to have that sun protection.

Skincare obsessions – PATYKA

organic natural skincare blog

My skin has been in a fantastic shape lately. I’ve been wearing just tinted sunscreen as my foundation, since I feel like I don’t need that much coverage anymore. And I’m loving every second of it.

There are many factors going into a nice skin, but good skincare products are definitely a crucial part of it. I’ve been using these products for over a month now and I am a bit obsessed (in a healthy way!).

A while back one of my good friends was complaining about her skin and asking me for an advice. She wanted a quick, easy solution to her skin problems. “Just give me an easy package with all the products”, she said.

Well, I’m pretty sold on these products and it’s the full package. Makeup remover, cleanser, toner, serum, a moisturizer and a mask for weekly use. Basically all the essentials you need for a good skincare routine. Oh – and did I mention they are also luxurious, organic, French (well, that country does seem to know beauty!) and affordable?

Here’s how my bare skin looks at the moment. It might not look perfect to you, but to me it’s fantastic. I have some discoloration mainly from acne scars, but all in all my skintone is quite even and my skin looks healthy with a nice glow.

PATYKA REVIEW – ORGANIC, LUXURY & AFFORDABLE SKINCARE

PATYKA recently came out with *three new product ranges and nine new products. CLEAN – a cleansing range, HYDRA – hydration range and DETOX – a purifying range. The price range for the products is 14,90€-34,90€.

I’ve been using the brand’s products before and I already knew – kind of – what to except. Great ingredients, nice scents, lovely consistencies and beautiful packaging.

The new products are still quite different to PATYKA’s usual products for three reasons: they are more affordable (like, a lot more affordable), the packaging is different (I actually prefer this packaging to the usual all white) and the ingredients are different in a way, that the most expensive anti-aging ingredients are left out.

But here’s the thing: I don’t feel like anything’s missing. And it may be because of my combination skintype. I have oiliness, but my skin can also get dry. I need good cleansing and lots of hydration. And that is what you get with these products. I would recommend them mainly to normal, combination and oily skintypes. But if your skin is dry, you still might want to try the HYDRA serum & lotion and the oil makeup remover – those are awesome and definitely not drying.

patyka cleansing oil foam review

PATYKA CLEAN RANGE – Cleansing

*PATYKA Melting Cleansing Oil

This cleansing oil removes makeup and sunscreen easily. I think oils are the best for makeup removing. They do the job, while taking care of the skin. This cleansing oil contains jojoba oil and apricot kernel oil and has a subtle vanilla floral scent (that all the clean range products have), which I love.

*PATYKA Detox Cleansing Foam

A nice foam cleanser, that is very effective yet gentle, when used on top of the oil. I recommend using it that way, not rinsing the oil off before the foam. But if your skin is oily, you can get away with first using the oil (and rinsing it) and then cleansing your skin with this foam. This dreamy foam contains aloe vera and moringa extract.

patyka clean soothing milky toner consistency

*PATYKA Soothing Milky Toner

This milky toner is probably my favorite product out of the clean range. The consistency in this toner is interesting – it’s like a liquid gel and I can’t think of another toner like it. I use this like this: I take two drops on my palm, rub it between my palms and then apply it all over my face and neck with my hands. This soothes my skin while giving it a nice glow. Contains aloe vera and mallow extract.

patyka hydra intensive review

PATYKA HYDRA RANGE – Hydrating

*PATYKA Intensive Hydra-Soothing Moisturizer

There are two moisturizers in HYDRA range and I got the intensive one for dry skin. At first I was a bit bummed out, because there is also the *lighter version of it. However I decided to try it anyway and it turned out to be awesome for my skin for nightly use. And since it’s so nourishing, I only need a tiny amount of it. I mix it with argan oil, because argan oil is a part of my skincare routine always. This moisturizer contains lovely things like shea butter, jojoba oil, mango butter and an anti-iflammatory soothing bisabolol. If you have combination skin and want a lotion that works for day use as well, the *lighter version might be a better choice!

*Patyka Hydra-Booster Serum

As far as hydrating serums go, this is my new favorite. It contains the good old hyaluronic acid as well as tremella extract from an asian mushroom, which are great ingredients for hydration. And this really does feel hydrating – and also soothing. I use this serum twice per day, after my toner. If you suffer from dryness, believe it or not, a lightweight serum like this might just be the solution.

patyka hydra booster serum review

PATYKA DETOX RANGE – Purifying

*PATYKA Detox Charcoal Mask

This charcoal mask was a pleasant surprise to me. It has a slight peppermint scent to it, which I usually hate, but in this it works (and it’s not too refreshing, if you know what I mean?). The consistency is also something very different to what I expected. It’s almost like a gel-clay mask. Sometimes purifying masks can be a bit too purifying, but this left my skin feeling clean, plump and hydrated. Contains charcoal, green clay and algae extract.

luxury skincare patyka review

All in all, I am very happy with PATYKA’s new products. For me, they tick all the boxes.
