Fall makeup tutorial using Vice 4 palette

Fall makeup tutorial coming your way!

I’ve been using my Vice 4 palette a lot lately and I realized it’s quite the palette for fall and winter. In this burnt orange smokey eye look I used Bitter, Delete, Flame and Deadbeat from the palette. The star of the show is definitely Flame, that beautiful shimmery orange color, which I used all over the lid.

For once, I decided that more is more. So this look ended up quite dark and dramatic. But I kinda love it. If you want to tone this look down, skip the black eyeshadow and do a thinner liner.

  1. Start by drawing a straight line from your lower lashline all the way to your crease area with ‘Bitter’. Create the shape for your eyeshadow with this color. Once you’re done, blend longer than you’d like. This look is supposed to be smokey, so don’t worry about blending the orange color too far or too low on your lower lashline.
  2. Darken the outer corner of your eye with ‘Delete’. Blend well.
  3. Add ‘Flame’ all over your lid. Pat it on to get the best pigment.
  4. Line your eyes with a black pencil. Line your lower lashline as well, and connect the liner in the outer corner. Blend the pencil with a small brush and make it nice and soft. I only brought the pencil about 1/3 of my lower lashline, and then blended the color, so it looks nice and soft.
  5. Add ‘Deadbeat’ right where you lined your eyes and blend it to make it even softer and so that the colors blend seamlessly together.
  6. Add some inner corner highlight (I used MAC’s Soft&Gentle). Then apply mascara and possibly some lashes. Done!

I could have added bigger lashes (those would suit this look), but I just wan’t mentally prepared for that fight. Lightweight lashes are easier to apply! I like Eylure’s lashes.

Color placement.

fall makeup tutorial burnt orange

P.S. I’ve been finding more and more dark brown hairs in my hair and I’m realizing my hair is.. quite brunette actually? I’ve been blonde my whole life (not counting the hair disasters with purple, orange or green hair). What’s frightening, is that my mom used to be blonde, but her hair got dark brown as she got older. #Firstworldproblems I know, but I think it’s also fascinating how your looks and coloring can change. Growing out your own hair color can bring out surprises.

P.S. I love fall

It happens every year. I get crazy about fall. I love it’s colors, the gloomy weather, scented candles, chai lattes, the fall foliage and most of all – I love fall makeup. Red and orange hues. Dark berry lips. Gorgeous glowy skin. Messy smokey eye.

I’ve been bursting with excitement when it comes to makeup. I’ve taken all my dark lipsticks out and I’m suddenly feeling a need for more warm-toned palettes.

I felt very inspired to do a fall-inspired makeup look and here’s what I came up with. Warm eye makeup with orange shimmer on the lid, lots of black liner, burgundy lips and a full-coverage foundation with lots of highlight. Oh, and a lot of blush. I guess it feels refreshing to wear lots of makeup after wearing minimal makeup throughout the summer, haha.

Besides sharing this look I also wanted to tell you about the products I used. There are some old favorites here, some that I recently started to use again, and also a brand new product that I’m trying out.

TONY MOLY Egg Pore Silky Smooth Balm

TONYMOLY Egg Pore Silky Smooth Balm*

Pr-sample
I got this primer from the launch event that I attended last week. I think Tony Moly has the cutest packaging! This golden egg is actually surprisingly beautiful as well. I’ve only tried it a few times, but it feels nice. It has a delicious scent and it feels very smooth on my skin. The primer is silicone-based, so it’s great for smoothing out the skin and hiding pores. I used to wear these kinds of primers all the time. Nowadays I rarely wear any primer. Let’s see if this primer changes my makeup game.

KICKS Makeup Brushes*

Pr-samples
I’ve been using KICKS’ brushes for quite some time now. I think their quality and price point is great. My favorite brush from them is the highlighting brush. It’s the perfect size, it’s soft and not too dense and it makes highlighting easy.

MILANI Baked Blush, Red Vino

Milani Baked Blush, Red Vino*

I’ll admit: I mainly bought this blush, because it’s gorgeous and I wanted a deep red blush. In reality though, this is very very pigmented so you need to be careful when applying it. A fact that I forgot when I was doing this makeup look. Luckily, blush overdose is easy to fix. Just apply some powder on top of it and blend like crazy. When I’m more careful with applying this and just take the tiniest amount, it works just fine. And looks more pink than red on my skin. I love Milani’s Baked Blushes and I have another shade of it as well (a color more suitable for every day looks). The blushes are beautiful, they have good pigment, they are easy to blend and they’re affordable.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Soft&Gentle*

A beautiful, gorgeous highlight. It’s quite finely milled and not too glittery. I love this product. I use this all the time in my eye makeup as well.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Soft & Gentle Highlight & KICKS Highlighting Brush

Elizabeth Arden Lasting Impression Mascara*

A mascara, that I got from my advent calendar last year. I only opened this recently and fell in love with it. It gives a nice volume to my lashes, but doesn’t make them too heavy.

Clarins Joli Rouge Velvet, Plum*

Pr-sample
A beautiful shade for Fall. I wrote a review on these here. I find that dark lipstick shades are tricky to apply. Every single dark lipstick I own is a bit tricky. Let me know in the comments if you know a good dark lipstick, that is easy to apply evenly and smoothly.
