In the harbour

english blog from finland

I love harbours.

There’s something beautiful and peaceful in the thought, that you can just go and sail wherever you want to and be surrounded by the sea. In reality though I usually just stare at the boats, think about how crazy expensive owning a boat is and how loud the motor is in my dad’s boat.

But still. There is a certain peace in harbours – definitely – compared to airports. I’m not a fan of airports. Is there a person who enjoys them? But you can’t really get to Amsterdam in 2,5 hours by a boat, so we’ll be heading to the airport soon.

I do look forward to going there though. I know I’m living the good life when I’m going to the airport. Travelling – that is the one luxury I never even knew to dream about as a kid. Waking up 5 am to a trip? I’m not tired at all.

(Actually, I’m super tired and can’t wait for our holiday, that starts from that beautiful city and ends in Berlin.)

What else did I want to say about harbours? Maybe this.

You may come and go
You may flee

You can see the most beautiful places in the world
but the motor is still running
and you mustn’t stop at nowhere

But you may go

You might remember the place
where it all started
Where you lost all of your rope
and set sail

You may flee

‘Cause it might not be the place for you darling
Even though you tried harder
It might not sound so promising (but I swear)
you do have your safe harbour

I love travelling, that feeling when you arrive at the airport and you know that in a few hours you will be landing to a new country and discover new places, see new things and meet new people and cultures and also create memories, best feeling in the world.

I love harbours and boats and being near the sea! Could I have this every day? Well, I used to and these days I don’t, I’ve made it my purpose to do so again. I prefer travelling by boat, I cannot stand the plane and I have fear of flying anyway. Thinking about it, it’s normal as I’m not a bird and up there isn’t my usual environment. We fly way more than taking a boat because we’re between London and Athens, but in the summer, once we land in greece it’s all about harbours and boats! Love the sound the ships make when they approach the harbour and seeing all of these little and bigger bats parked all around. Sooo pretty! Enjoy your holiday lovely!

Haha yes it’s normal since you’re not bird :–D I’m gonna use that one! I knew you probably love harbors (cause it has to do with sea) lovely. <3

I like airports, they are so full of promise and freedom. Even more than harbours, maybe because I rarely travel by boat and mostly travel by plane. But I love being by the sea, be it on the shore or in a harbour, the sea is endless, or at least she seems to be.

So pretty! I love harbours -although I also love airports!- and we often drive to both if wanting to get some fresh air. The harbour is lovely to walk around, but I also like watching planes take off from the airport. Anything which makes me think of travel and adventure clears my mind.

I hope you have an amazing trip! I’ve only passed through the airport and would love to stop in Amsterdam.

Yeah I like to look at planes taking off. That’s one of the things I do enjoy at airports. 🙂 Thank you, the trip was awesome! <3
