Champagne on a Thursday

how to be confident

my self-love journey

I’m smiling a lot in these photos and that just might be the company. Or the fact that I was gonna go for a champagne with my company. On a Thursday.

I always try and be positive so that I could accidentally maybe spread that around. I don’t always succeed in that, but when I do it’s the best compliment you could give me. I was thinking about that today and I realized something very important.

Once you start to appreciate the little things, you begin to understand the bigger picture.

I don’t know if that makes any sense to you, but for me it’s almost like a guideline. You probably know about the little things already, about those small things in life that make you smile. But understanding their worth is almost life-changing. We all want a good life and a good amount of us probably have a plan ahead of us. We know the things we want, which career we want, where do we want to live and who do we want to spend it with (or we don’t know nothing at all except wanting to be happy). But what we don’t always understand is what happens in between those goals. That middle part is pretty important, because it’s your life.

how to survive depression

When I was depressed and wanted nothing out of life, my biggest task was to come up with three things in the day that made me thankful or even a bit happy. Man, it was hard at the time. I usually came up with things such as coffee, a hot shower or a car ride back from work. Here is a small note from my diary from that time:

Nice little things. They are the most important thing of all. You should cherish them. They remind you, that life can be easy too.

And you know what happened? Those little things became a huge life. Those hot showers, those coffee cups enjoyed in a good company, those walks around the house, the beautiful things I noticed outside – they became this amazing sea where I could drown yet not die.

That sea is my favorite place to swim.

I kept holding on to my little advice. I still cherish the little moments. It’s easier now, like child play. For example that particular Tursday I was extremely thankful and happy that

  1. the sun was shining and setting it’s rays on me and suddenly Summer wasn’t in such a hurry.
  2. I saw my friend who I’ve only known for a year but we get along like it was written in the stars.
  3. I had champange right where I could see my home town, the best place of all, Helsinki.

What are you thankful of?

Mä juurikin otin tänään Insta Storyyni aiheeksi listata kivoja arkisia juttuja! Sellaisia, joita pitää joskus itsestäänselvyyksinä.

    Hyvä postaus! 🙂

Yes!!! It’s the small things that make a difference in life. A good company, a nice movie and a glass of wine are nothing important but too important for me. Also, the nature, the blooming flowers, the nice warm weather, the sun, all these things are little things that make us happy!!

Love the photos Charlotta, you look happy and beautiful! Girls that smile are the most charming ;). Great advice there too. I’m thanksful for my mother and husband. My family is amazing and I love them. I’m also thanksful for having started to learn Argentine tango and for the nature and sea I experience when I’m home back in greece. There are so many things I want to change, but trying to do so little by little appreciating the little things and working on the change to happen. X
